How To Be More Patient: 4 Simple Hacks

Most of us live in a world of instant gratification, where we want things without waiting. We desire our orders delivered as soon as possible. We want to be muscular overnight. We love our meals cooked faster. There are even ways books can be read to us or recapped because we feel reading them is a lot of stress.

But Science has discovered that we will be happier if we will be more patient and delay gratification.

Below are four ways to transform yourself into a patient and happier person overtime:

How to be patient

1. Practice Waiting

This sounds simple stupid but the best way to start learning patience is to deliberately practice it yourself. According to a study published in Psychological Science, people that wait for things are happier than those who don’t in the long run.

You can start with simple patience practices such as waiting some minutes to sip that coffee. After this, you can practice with something bigger. The more you practice, the more patient you will get. This may be difficult and perhaps mechanical at the beginning, but it gets easier with more practice.

2. Do Important Things

Figure out the unimportant things that shift your attention from the consequential things. This can remove stress from your life. Evaluate your weekly and daily activities to spot and sift the unimportant. You are likely to exercise more patience with consequential works while you ease yourself from stress simultaneously.

3. Identify and Avoid Things That Make You Impatient

Many of us have several activities bubbling in our heads. In the name of multitasking, we jump from one activity to the other often leaving the former undone. And with multitasking comes frustration when we feel we are stuck.

Hence, it helps to take account of our thoughts and pen the causes of impatience. This makes it easier to avoid the things that make us impatient and those things that stress us out.

4. Practice Relaxation and Taking Deep Breaths

Practicing relaxation and taking deep breaths can help to calm your mind and body. It is the easiest way to ease any impatient feeling you may be experiencing. If this doesn’t help, you can consider taking a walk to clear your head. This can go a long way in assisting you to refocus on what is important.

Don’t forget the promise of science, that the more you learn to wait, the more patient you are likely to be. And the more patient you are, the happier you will likely become. So slow down and do a little more patience.

You are likely to be less stressed when you identify and avoid the things that stress you out. I believe if this will make you happier, then it is worth trying out. Don’t you think so?
