What Happened to Madonna and Why is She Acting Her Age?

Due to her recent actions, people are starting to wonder what happened to Madonna and where the direction of her career is headed. 

Not because she isn’t as talented as she’s always been, but because she seems to be against “acting her age”.

Madonna was a beloved artist for several decades because of her punk style, rebellious craft, and gorgeous voice.

Many people, especially girls and women, looked up to the star in the ‘80s because she was new, bold, and empowering. 

Powerful

She gave a platform for girls to feel powerful. To not hold onto limiting gender roles and ideas of what a woman “should be.”

She was in the face of controversy, she shouldered the critics, she was bad-a** non-conformist, and many people loved that about her. 

The bandwagon

But the Queen of Pop seems to be hopping right on the bandwagon of what a woman should or shouldn’t look like. After all these years of being the definition of the opposite.

Madonna Wants To Stay Relevant Through Her Appearance

Many people view Madonna as a woman who feels “insecure about aging and desperately grasping at an attempt to look youthful, to stay relevant.”

Many people have also criticized a TikTok Madonna posted, her face so heavily altered that many people speculated whether or not it was a stunt to keep herself popping up in conversations by making herself look freakishly “edited.”

She hangs around the young

According to New York Post, a dancer friend explained that Madonna hangs around people much younger than her because she finds them more relatable and fun, whereas people her age are “stuffy and boring.” 

This also extends to romantic relationships, where she tends to date men several decades her junior.

From Empowering Girls to Empowering The Patriarchy

Many people are confused about why Madonna would embrace the patriarchal standards concerning women’s appearance, especially regarding older women. 

If Madonna had decided to age gracefully, she would’ve been seen as a much more powerful image of what girls and women should strive to be. Instead, she further instilled the notion that she is not good enough unless a woman is young and beautiful.
