Captain Xavier's Big Happy Family - Or So He Thought
Xavier was excited about seeing his wife Linda, daughter Melissa, and Linda's sons from her previous relationship. Upon arriving, the excited husband and dad called out for his wife and daughter, only to find Mellissa locked in a kitchen.
The dad was even more confused once he saw the mattress and realized that his daughter was sleeping in the kitchen while being chained.
Real-Life Cinderella Saved By Her Dad
Melissa was thrilled to see her dad, but initially, she did not want to tell him why she was sleeping in the kitchen locked away. She pleaded with her father:
"I can't tell you! Don't you see, Daddy? You'll go away again, and I'll be alone with them again!"
However, her dad was persistent, and the young girl confessed. She was thrown away from her bedroom to make room for Peter's stepsons.
The daughter then told her father how she was treated poorly, but she found a new friend, Karen, who lived close by. Karen was the one feeding the poor girl properly and became a motherly figure Melissa desperately needed.
Linda and the boys were away from the weekend, but once they came home, they were in for a not-so-pleasant surprise.
The military dad gave his daughter her room back and told the boys they were moving into the garage.

Starting Over
Once Linda and the boys were back from Florida vacation, Linda was furious about the changes. But Peter told his then-wife:
"I phoned the cops, and they came to see how Melissa was living and the circumstances in which I discovered her."
Linda took the boys and fled the scene. Initially, he lived with Melissa alone, but as the story went on, Peter got closer to Karen.
After seeing her bring warm meals to his daughter and treat her with kindness, this military dad professed his love, and there were wedding bells in their future.
Though this story starts with a rather unsettling treatment of a young girl, it is inspiring and heartwarming, and we only wish more real-life heroes would do anything for their children.
