"Why are we all telling each other when we're showering?": Former Corporate Worker Exposes Crazy Workplace Culture - Employees Forced to Announce Shower Times

Popular content creator, Devin Raimo, shared why she quit her first corporate job in a viral TikTok video, which was played over 2.5 million times and counting.

Though she worked until 10 pm initially, she soon started working well into the night. But that was not even the most toxic part of Devin's experience.

Devin and her co-workers had to share intimate details

In her viral video, Devin talked about team check-in meetings at 2 am, where she and her co-workers would get more work to finish during the night.

Due to this hectic tempo, Devin and her co-workers started informing each other when they were showering.

In the video, Devin reflected, asking her followers, "Why are we all telling each other when we're showering?"

Raimo recalled another strange instance

Devin shared that a co-worker allegedly went to shower but did not inform enough people.

She explained:

"They were literally about to send a SWAT team to his house because they couldn't find him. And he was literally just in the shower."

Devin did not name the company, but commentators figured out she most likely worked for one of the "Big 4" accounting companies.

The Big 4 are the largest companies in the US, Deloitte, Ernst & Young (EY), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG).

The final straw

In what Devin called "the final straw," she claims she wanted a day off for her sister's wedding in April.

She admitted in her video that she merely wanted not to work on her birthday, but the company did not know that.

Since it was Saturday and Devin got a day off, she did not expect calls, emails, and tons of work-related messages.

Someone from the company allegedly said, "Other people on my other teams work even on their own wedding day."

This was when she realized it was time to give her 2-week notice.

The young woman did a follow-up video

In the second video, Devin shared more bizarre things she experienced. One time, a co-worker worked for "28 hours straight."

He left the job, but the others saw him as weak since he could not "emotionally handle working past midnight."

Then she shared she "thought this was all normal and stayed for three years."

She wrote in the comments she "made less than my bf and friends who all worked normal hours." Devin did her math and wrote, "I was prob making $1 hourly."

Devin got people talking

Many people shared similar experiences. Others talked about low wages and the need for urgency.

One person wrote, "You're not curing cancer!! It can wait until 9 am."

Another "did the math, and I made way less than a McDonald's employee."

Some wondered, "How on earth is this legal?? America is on another level."

One person got creative and was upvoted, "I considered faking my own abduction to get out of working Big 4 during the busy season."

Many said they experienced PTSD due to working hours, while others felt like they were reading a horror story while listening to Devin and reading comments.
