Darcy Schoening, a leader of Colorado's far-right activist group, Moms for Liberty, shared with a CNN reporter that the president and teacher unions are turning children gay and trans.
Mom of Liberty tells all
Schoening sat down with Elle Reeve from CNN, and when the journalist asked her if “there’s some kind of high-level coordinated effort to make more children trans and gay," she quickly said, "Yes."
Blaming the teachers and the president
Reeve wanted to know who was behind that. Schoening said, "Teachers’ unions and, um, our president’s, and a lot of funding sources, and teachers’ unions are also heavily backing the curriculum that we’re bringing into school.”
The question of family values
The CNN reporter pushed Schoening and wondered why parents or the president want to turn kids LGBTQ+. The mom explained, "Because it breaks down the family unit, which breaks down traditional conservative values, it breaks down a lot of things in this country. It changes the way that people think, it changes the way that people, um, handle politics."
It's not a “conspiracy theory"
The reporter asked Schoening if she realized she sounded like a conspiracy theorist. Schoening quickly fired back, “It’s not a conspiracy theory that the state, whether you’re talking about Colorado or the federal government, is taking a stronger hand in public education, in raising our kids.”
More accusations against the president and the teachers
Colorado's leader of Moms For Liberty added, “The people that want to erode away at parental rights, the left, the teachers’ unions, they’ll use LGBTQ or whatever may be the case at the time – those are just tools to erode away at parental rights.”
Shocking but not unheard of
Fox News host Jeanine Pirro warned in the midterms, "If the Republicans don’t win, then it will be a threat to democracy because it will be the end of education, where teachers believe they should be able to trans our kids and talk about 1619 without our knowing about it.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene had similar allegations
While on her podcast in 2022, Greene talked about allegations against Elon Musk. Somehow, she turned this into a conversation against the Democrats, claiming, “If anyone was a Democrat steps out of line because they’ve decided they can’t go along with the horrible, disgusting, and failing ways of the Democrats, and they actually see the light, see the truth…”
Greene continued theorizing
“They go, you know, I’m going to try voting Republican because these people over here make sense,” Greene continued. “They like everybody, they think our Constitution is for everyone, they don’t want to turn your kids gay and have, you know, transgender, and they don’t want to kill babies in the womb,” Greene concluded.
Moms for Liberty is spreading
The group has 135 chapters in 35 states. Allegedly, Ron DeSantis gave the group a push, and the group has strong ties with numerous politicians and anti-LGBTQ organizations, GLAAD reported.
The group's achievements
The controversial group was allegedly behind banning many books, complained about the Civil War making white people look bad, suggested that LGBTQ children be isolated from others, and more.
People had their theories about the CNN interview
Below a Twitter link with a video, one person asked, "Didn’t it turn out that her kids are home-schooled, so she has no clue what’s going on in schools?"
More questions
Another wondered, "So, the parental rights of those who disagree with her beliefs don't get a say, so? They're literally the minority on this."
Some were not as kind
Another person called the group "Moms for fascism," while this Twitter poster wondered, "With all the things teachers & administrators have to do during the school day, & the extra work teachers & administrators have to do evenings & weekends, when is this indoctrination supposed to take place? Recess?"
