New York Republican representative George Santos refuses to resign despite his recent claims that he believes he will be ousted. Santos also shared some bits and pieces about his colleagues, including they are sleeping around, though cheating and federal charges are not quite the same.
Santos unleashes the fury

"I have colleagues who are more worried about getting drunk every night with the next lobbyists that they're going to screw and pretend like none of us know what's going on and sell off the American people," Santos said, adding that some do not "show up to vote because they're too hungover or whatever the reason is, or not show up to vote at all and just give their card out like f…ing candy for someone else to vote for them."
Badge of honor

The Republican, who confirmed who will not run for reelection, also shared on X Spaces, "You want to expel me? I'll wear it like a badge of honor. I'll be the sixth expelled member of Congress." He added, "I know I'm going to get expelled when this expulsion resolution goes to the floor."
Like an "it girl"

Santos said he felt like "it girl" after being first elected in 2020 "until nobody wanted me." Santos was indicted on 13 federal charges in May 2023, and in October, a superseding indictment with ten criminal counts, but he survived two expulsion attempts so far. However, many Congress members said they no longer plan to support the New York Republican.
The investigation started in March

The House Ethics Committee started investigating Santos in March after many details about his biography turned out to be false. Another red flag was allegations regarding financial misconduct. In May, he faced the indictment on seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House.
Santos won't work with "hypocrites"

The NYC Republican stated, "I'm not running for reelection, not because this was a damning report," adding. "I'm not running for reelection because I don't want to work with a bunch of hypocrites." He said, "I'm not leaving. These people need to understand it's done when I say it's done."
