The clip was shared on Reddit but was quickly removed. Still, it ended up on other social networks, prompting TSA to react.
The man was aggressively pulling the dog
The video showed a man pulling a dog, who appeared to be in training in the airport’s McNamara Terminal at Detroit Airport. The pulling was so hard that the dog’s paws were often lifted from the ground.
Unacceptable behavior
TSA is investigating the incident. In a statement, they shared, “The behavior displayed by this handler is unacceptable and not within the high standards we hold our officers to.”
The employee is on a leave
TSA confirmed that the man in question has been removed from duties until the investigation is concluded. The dog was taken to the vet for a check-up.
The person who filmed the video shared their input
The Reddit poster said they initially thought the puppy was highly energized and jumping for no reason. The clip was filmed from the airport’s Delta Sky Club.

The Reddit user said, “I was shocked at how this airport handler is dragging this poor pup around. I have a high-energy dog, so at first, I assumed it was a mistake or that the puppy was a bit over-energetic, but it looks like the handler is just being unnecessarily rough with it.”

One Reddit poster wrote, “At the first round, I thought he was practicing heeling with those abrupt turns, but it got worse and worse. He doesn’t even keep the dog on the heeling side to give him a better chance of anticipating the turn. He’s not doing the dog any favors.”
