While rushing past a children's clothing store in Chile, Elba Mayorga noticed what appeared to be an incredibly realistic dog mannequin among the regular display figures. "I saw him out of the corner of my eye," she recalled. "His stillness caught my attention."
In her rush, Mayorga nearly walked past without discovering the truth about the furry “figurine” — it wasn’t a figurine at all.
“The moment I got closer to take a better look, he stuck out his tongue at me,” Mayorga said. “It was so cute!”

Given the winter chill in South America, Mayorga guessed the stray dog had sought shelter in the shop to escape the cold. And cleverly, he'd found a perfect way to blend in with the display.
Though stopping to admire the handsome dog added to her delay, Mayorga didn't mind at all. "Those few minutes with him were completely worth it," she said. "He brought me joy that lasted the entire day."
