For seven months, Lancer remained at City of Mobile Animal Services without a single meet-and-greet request. Despite being a sweet dog yearning for love, he went unnoticed, prompting Lancer to take matters into his own paws.
Mary Kate Hale, digital media manager for City of Mobile Animal Services, told The Dodo that he would reach out his paw whenever someone walked by his kennel, hoping to be held.
He pressed against the front of his kennel, pushing his paw through the bars, hoping for attention. All he wanted was to be loved, and no one understood why he remained unadopted.
Hale noted, “Lancer is sweet and loves peanut butter. After a zoomie session, he can be seen napping in a shaded spot, legs sprawled like a frog.”
Melting hearts
After Lancer performed his signature move for a passerby, they captured a photo of his endearing pose. Once shared on social media, the image instantly captivated hearts worldwide.
“Hale said that within 24 hours of being posted on Facebook, Lancer attracted the attention of his future dad, Nick.”
Nick immediately recognized Lancer's sweetness and his longing for love, concluding that he was the perfect person to provide it.
Lancer is thriving in his new home, and his dad is always there to hold his paw whenever he reaches out.
