When Binky went missing at 15 years old, his family was devastated. In the midst of moving to a new home, they dropped everything to search for their beloved dog.

Binky had a microchip, and his family held onto the hope that someone would find him and reach out. Despite delaying their move as long as possible, they eventually had no choice but to leave.

Three years passed, and the family had given up hope of ever seeing their sweet Binky again.

But just as they were adjusting to life without him, they were about to receive the most joyful news.

A compassionate individual discovered the dog in a heartbreaking condition, wandering the streets of Summerville, South Carolina. Wanting to help, they quickly contacted Dorchester Paws for assistance.

"His fur was severely matted, especially around his eyes—it was hard to tell if he even had eyes. His nails were so overgrown they curled, he smelled awful, and his teeth were rotting," April Howard, the director of Dorchester Paws, shared with The Dodo.

The staff immediately took him to the veterinary clinic.

The medical team carefully shaved off his matted fur, bringing the pup much-needed relief as he was finally able to open his beautiful eyes.

The veterinarian began administering medications to ease his pain. Despite everything he had been through, the brave dog showed his caregivers that he was alright. He was incredibly friendly and quickly won their hearts with his sweet and gentle nature.

Once his makeover was complete, the vets scanned him for a microchip. Their excitement soared when they discovered he had a family.

Without hesitation, they contacted the dog’s owners to deliver the happiest news.

When Binky’s family received the news that he had been found, they were completely stunned. They couldn’t believe it.

“The family was in disbelief. They asked, ‘Are you sure it’s Mr. B?!’” shared April Howard. “Binky was already a senior when they adopted him, so they never thought they would see him again.”

Everyone was amazed that the fragile pup had managed to survive as a stray for such a long time.

What shocked them even more was that Binky had been found so far away from his home in Georgia.

The shelter staff was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to reunite Binky with his family. His parents were eagerly counting the moments until they could hold him again.

Even though Binky’s family lived six hours away, the staff wasted no time. They carefully placed him in the car and drove him straight home.

When Binky’s parents saw their beloved pup, they couldn’t hold back their tears. They gently scooped him into their arms, hugging him tightly.

Though Binky was mostly blind and deaf, unable to see their loving faces or hear their voices, the moment he caught their familiar scent, he knew he was home. He melted into his mom’s arms, his joy evident in his big, happy smile.

Despite his limited senses, Binky could feel the overwhelming love of his family. He had missed them deeply over the years. His parents beamed with happiness as Binky showered them with sweet, affectionate kisses.

Binky’s parents showered him with all their love and care, making sure he knew just how much he was adored. Binky was overjoyed, soaking up every moment of their affection.

Sadly, not long after his return home, Binky’s health began to decline.

His family never left his side. They gently stroked his fur and whispered their love to him, holding him close as he peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge.

Binky’s family will always cherish him and keep his memory alive. Though they wish they had more time together, they are grateful that Binky found his way home and spent his final days surrounded by endless love.
