If you thought you heard every crazy birth story, think again. In a 2005's episode of Untold Stories of the ER, Dr. Mauricio Heilbron, Jr. recalled how an unnamed ER doctor caught a baby who flew out of their mom. But the way this physician positioned himself is nothing short of a miracle.
A Night To Remember
It was an exciting night at Dr. Heilbron's hospital in San Pedro, California. There was a gunshot victim in the ER, as well as a man whose intestines were outside, and a pregnant woman.
One would think that tending to a woman about to give birth should be easier than dealing with other cases, but nothing is as it seems.
ER Physician Showed Superhuman Skills
According to Dr. Heilbron, the physician heard the woman screaming and started running toward her. However, his quick thinking made him realize there was nothing else to do but jump on the woman's bed in a kneeling position and catch a popping baby!
Yes, the baby popped out like in movies or even cartoons, and the ER doctor caught it despite the odds.
If the unnamed doctor was unwilling or unprepared to leap on his knees, we do not even want to think about what would have happened to the baby.

There Was One Casualty
The baby was safe in the doctor's arms, but the memorable incident left a mark.
As Dr. Heilbron recalled, the physician's clothes took the fall. Heilbron recalled:
"Here's this immaculately-dressed emergency room physician now covered in afterbirth, blood, fluid, feces, urine, God knows what else."
In a blink of an eye, the unnamed physician reminded us there are everyday heroes, and they do not wear capes.
