People are turning to social media to talk about their struggles with inflation. That is how a TikTok video ended up on the Wall Street Silver page, and the tweet got over 5.2 million views in less than two days.
The video shows a woman trying to figure out how she spent 115 dollars when she bought only a few necessities. The comment section echoed her sentiments.
Twitter users share their thoughts on the inflation
A Twitter user wrote, “I bought $90 worth of groceries that I swear would have been $30 just two years ago.” This is one of the most retweeted comments, with another adding, “$9 for a dozen of eggs. It was $1.50 before the pandemic. Yes, girlfriend, inflation is real, and it’s scary.”
Another woman echoed what many shared:
“My husband and I keep very strict records of our spending, and we have been spending 40% more on groceries every month since March 2022.”
A man wrote, “She hasn’t even gotten to the produce yet. It’s easily doubled.”

And another added: “Inflation has always been an important resource of policies of war and revolution and why we also find it in the service of socialism. - Ludwig von Mises.”

Some Twitter users were not as sympathetic
Naturally, some questioned the women’s choices, while others advised her to shop elsewhere.
Someone commented: “that frozen fruit blend is a VERY expensive choice for smoothies and is probably more than 10% of her bill alone.”
Another person quickly pointed out: “Inflation, yes, but notice she stopped herself when saying what that little box is. That was probably something pricey.”
This person also had a question, “Why does someone need that much ranch dressing, though? That’s a luxury, not a necessity in my house.”
