Two urban explorers stumbled upon a $12 million mansion and $100,000 worth of cars and designer clothes. Among them were vintage Mercedes Benz, a Volkswagen Bug, and Land Rover, as well as Louboutin and Chanel shoes, all covered in dust.
Jeremy Abbott from Nashville, Tennessee, 34, and BigBankz found the location as they searched Google Maps for "rumored abandoned mansions." The findings tell a story of a surgeon and his family.
A surgeon's dream home
Jeremy shared photos and the mansion's history, though he did not give away the exact location since he wanted to keep the family's privacy.
He shared that the mansion was owned by a successful surgeon with a wife and four children.
The 27,000-square-foot property had several medical properties in the area.
The family moved to the mansion in 2006, when the house was 90 percent finished. However, they only got to enjoy it for six months.
Sudden deaths and a hefty mortgage
The surgeon and his 15-year-old son died in a plane accident. Since he did not have premium life insurance, and the mortgage was around $60,000 a month, the bank seized the massive property three months later.
Jeremy showed respect towards the late surgeon, saying that the man who built the mansion was "accomplished, graduating from one the nation's finest medical schools, he became a surgeon, a father-of-four, and even a recreational pilot."
After building nine medical offices in 2006, he wanted to create a dream home for his family.
Jeremy further described that he was not "a flashy man, but no expense was spared in the elaborate design of this 27,0000-square-foot luxury villa."
The real mystery of the mansion
The 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms villa remains unfinished. However, what attracted the explorers were "the huge amount of valuables left inside."
Among them were designer clothes, shoes, fancy cars, and pricey furniture.
Jeremy said each room had a different scent, and the whole mansion felt like a temple.
The initial excitement was replaced by sadness
Talking about his time in the mansion, Jeremy said the initial excitement shifted swiftly to sadness.
He compared it to strolling "through a memorial of the life and the love that once dwelled but was forced to leave under the most tragic of circumstances."
Jeremy left feeling "every emotion" once his tour was over, explaining:
"There's nothing in the world that brings me so much joy and yet sadness to step inside a place like that."
Abbott believes a homeless person lives in the mansion
Jeremy is sure he heard someone on the second floor, so he waited for them to exit the estate before he entered it.
According to stories, a "foreigner" lived on the property until 2015, then left the country.
Abbot talked about the original owners and concluded that people share his sentiments, as they "respond in absolute amazement and, at the same time, sadness for the family and the home that has begun to be consumed by nature."
