A video recently surfaced online featuring a woman living alone in Japan who shares footage of how a stalker attempted to break into her home while she slept, causing a stir of terror on the internet.
Many people dream of living in Japan, with its beautiful cherry blossoms and vibrant culture, but for women who live alone in this country, the dream can quickly turn into a nightmare with the constant threat of being stalked and even having their homes invaded, as one woman recently experienced.
TikToker Alexandria (@alexandriaokayy) recently posted a disturbing video on the platform, where she provided evidence of a stalker who attempted to break into her home.
“You want to know the freakiest thing about living in Japan as a woman? You get stalked,” Alexandria says in her video.
The woman shares that she was woken up to a horrifying experience that she hopes no one else has to endure.
Upon waking up, she noticed that her peephole had been pushed out of her door.
To determine whether someone was trying to break into her apartment, she placed tissue in the peephole and a magnet nearby.
“If this magnet moves, I know someone is actively trying to look into my apartment,” she explains.
Alexandria adds that she had to inspect her door handle to ensure that there were no signs of attempted break-in.
However, what is most troubling to her is that the other half of the peephole wasn’t on the ground, leading her to believe that it may have fallen inside the door.
“But I don't see how that would have happened,” Alexandria says, “So maybe someone broke into my apartment.”
“Regardless, I'm moving.”
The following day, Alexandria turns her camera on to see if the stalker took the bait.
To her dismay, the magnet she had placed had been moved, leaving no doubt in her mind that someone had broken into her apartment and was actively trying to spy on her.
“Clearly somebody paid me a visit recently,” she concludes, “Oh, my gosh.”

The video went viral on the platform, and the comment section was filled with a wealth of practical solutions for dealing with stalkers.
“I'd print a picture of an eye and tape it on the door so next time the stalker will see an eye looking at them,” one user suggested.
“Put a ring camera outside ur door,” a second wrote.
“Wait on the other side with a sharpened pencil x,” a third proposed.
“Put a note on the door saying they’re being recorded and authorities have been contacted,” a fourth recommended.
“Get a couple of bolt locks as well,” a fifth advised, “Rig a trap for the peek hole to take an eye.”
Other valuable suggestions from commenters included using duct tape, a ring alarm, or a spray bottle with hot chili.
It seems that Alexandria's experience with stalking is not unique, as several commenters recounted similar encounters with stalkers.
“This happened to me in Korea and it ended up being the vice principal from the school I worked at who paid the rent of my apartment,” one person shared, “Terrifying.”
“I am a man, and I was stalked by another man in Tokyo,” another wrote, “It was so scary and even though he was younger and slighter than me, I took it seriously.”
“I had a similar situation and like yours,” s third recounted, “The police nor my landlord helped.”
Alexandria urges all women who live alone to be vigilant and stay alert to avoid becoming prey to stalkers who target them.
