Steve Bannon warned recently retired General Milley, saying he would be "held accountable" in a second Donald Trump term. Bannon detailed Milley's disloyalty to the democratically elected commander-in-chief and the United States.
Bannon dedicated a whole segment to General Milley
Bannon, who was chief White House strategist during Trump's first year in the White House, said that he met with Milley and Pentagon leaders, "I was the point person for President Trump in '17 on getting us out of Afghanistan." He continued, "We didn't get it done in '17, and the reason we didn't get it done in '17 is that they kind of pushed President Trump into a corner and lied to him."
The military will "lie" to you
Bannon continued, "I hate to say this, but as much as I love the military and the Navy, the military, DOD, the national security state will look you straight in the eye, and they will lie to you." Bannon, who now has a podcast, alleged Milley and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper worked to undermine Trump.
Serious accusations
“After January 6, he was making phone calls, unauthorized phone calls to the Chinese Communist Party, the PLA leader, to imply Trump's a madman,” Bannon said, adding, “The military is basically doing a coup.” Bannon also alleged that Milley never asked Trump to make the calls, nor did he notify him.
Message for Milley
Bannon continued, "You damned yourself with your own words, and you are going to be held accountable—right there shows you his treason right there, shows you his plotting." Concluding his War Room, Bannon stated Milley "wouldn't get away with this" and added, "We're gonna hold him accountable. We don't know the form yet or how charges are going to be filed, but this guy is not going to get away with this. It was treasonous."
Not done
Bannon repeated, "He's the commander-in-chief. If you had a problem, you should have resigned right then. You didn't. You're cunning, you're sneaky, you're a liar, and you're treasonous, and you will be held accountable." He also told Newsweek that Milley "needs to face legal action as soon as possible."
Some saw it as a threat
"Steve Bannon says General Milley will be prosecuted for treason during a second Trump term," wrote on X conservative lawyer Ron Filipkowski. Many remember that Trump also talked about Milley on Truth Social, "A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act." He added, "The punishment would have been DEATH!"
Bannon has a trial in May
Bannon's trial will start in May on money laundering, fraud, and conspiracy charges related to the "We Build the Wall" campaign in New York. He was convicted in July 2022 of two counts of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021.
