Have you heard of Boyfriend Air before? It's a new and interesting phenomenon that's taking TikTok by storm.

Many women are now sharing their personal experiences with this Boyfriend Air theory, which highlights the peculiar smell they notice only when they're around their partner. It’s simply the smell that remains after spending a lot of time with your partner, and it's not exactly a pleasant one.

Although it might seem like Boyfriend Air is caused by wild and dirty activities, it's actually more of an osmosis process. This means that an unclean boyfriend can rub off their nastiness onto their girlfriend, resulting in an odd, not enjoyable smell.

TikToker @taylordonoghuee brought attention to the Boyfriend Air phenomenon in a now-viral video that captions “I was truly shook to see other ppl also related to this😭💀,” sharing that she feels unclean only when she's with at her boyfriend's.

“I’m so happy people are talking about Boyfriend Air because I actually thought I was going crazy,” Taylor states at the beginning of the video.

She explained that despite her best efforts to stay clean for her boyfriend, she still feels “dirty” even after taking a shower.

"I remember taking a full body shower, and the next morning waking up and being like, 'I feel so dirty'," she says.

Taylor couldn't understand why her hair was getting greasy so fast, her skin was looking different, and she had to constantly apply deodorant.

She strongly believes that Boyfriend Air is a real thing, and she has evidence to back it up because she only feels this way when she’s around her boyfriend.

The comments section reveals that Taylor is not alone in experiencing such changes after staying with a boyfriend.

The video has garnered many comments from women who related to Taylor's experience, with many expressing that they have felt the same way while staying with their partners. As one commenter put it, "[Boyfriend Air] is a thing because it was only in his apartment that I would feel this way."

"its cause [your boyfriend] keeps touching your face and your hair [sic],"one TikToker speculated.

Another user concurred with the theory of Boyfriend Air, writing, "I look so much better at my house LOL [sic]."

A commenter drew an accurate comparison about the phenomenon, stating, "It's like camping. You're not truly clean.”

In an effort to make sense of the Boyfriend Air phenomenon, a commenter suggested that "it's because of the hormones our bodies [release] when we're around someone we're romantically and sexually attracted to."

On the other hand, some viewers were skeptical of the Boyfriend Air phenomenon and proposed that the issue might be poor hygiene on the boyfriend's part, writing, “No yall just have boyfriends that need to clean more 😭.”

One user found Taylor's statement about taking a 'full body shower' amusing and couldn't understand why it was worth mentioning. “full body shower? is there. partial shower?” they questioned.

The Boyfriend Air theory has become a hot topic on TikTok, with numerous women sharing their own experiences, perspectives, and explanations.

If you're curious about the Boyfriend Air theory, @chicks has a viral TikTok video that offers a clear definition of it:

“Boyfriend Air is a theory that centers around how being in the presence of a boyfriend or a male partner affects the hygiene and presentability of their female partner.”

“When you go to a boy’s house, you just get ugly,” the woman featured in the video says, “it’s like there’s something in the air.”

The other woman in the video provides her own take on the theory, suggesting that it could be due to a lack of personal care when staying at a boyfriend's house.

“I feel like it’s when I go to a boy’s house, I just don’t have all my things there,” she explains, “And you’re not really taking care of yourself cause you’re hanging out and then you leave.”

She also assures women that this Boyfriend Air effect is only temporary, saying, “as soon as you get home you’re fine.”

So, do you buy into the concept of Boyfriend Air? That women are more attractive when they're single, but lose some of that appeal once they start spending time at their partner's place?

So far, it seems that TikTok is still divided on the topic of Boyfriend Air and whether it's a real theory or not. Regardless of where you stand, it's certainly an interesting discussion to have and see how people's perspectives differ.
