Time flew by so fast that summer almost felt like it was only yesterday. And with how hectic life is lately, it’s not unusual that you sometimes forget to take care of yourself, health-wise and appearance-wise. However, taking care of yourself should never be a second option!

If you find it tedious to have a full-body makeover, you can start with your skin instead, which is perfect since fall is starting to make its way in! And what better way to spruce yourself up than to try out these tips to have a glow-up like never before in the middle of fall.

Why You Should Keep Your Skincare Routine All-Year Round

Of course, maintaining anything takes both time and patience. The same goes for skincare. But that shouldn’t stop you because your skincare routine helps you look good and be your best self whatever the occasion!

What if you already have a set routine, though? Do you still need to change it?

The answer is yes. As the season changes, your body needs to adjust to the corresponding temperature. Aside from getting a cold when the temperature drops, you’ll notice your skin quickly drying up whereas, during summer, your face feels permanently oily due to the heat.

With this, you can grudgingly admit your summer regime isn’t as effective as you think for the chill that fall brings in.

Tips To Boost Your Skincare Routine For Fall

  1. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, and Keep Exfoliating

You should keep exfoliating your face every single day in the morning and at night because you’ll want to get rid of dry, flaky skin. And dry skin is what you’ll certainly be enduring for the entire fall season because of the cold.

Not only does it remove dry skin, but exfoliation can also bring out that glow hiding beneath the drowsiness you’re probably feeling for being outside where it’s cold (or simply due to stress and fatigue)!

Be aware that exfoliating is a deep cleansing process. If you find your skin much more sensitive when it’s dry, then it’s for the best that you use gentler formulas when doing so because it’ll do you more harm than good. The same goes if your skin isn’t as oily as that of other girls, then it’s recommended that you exfoliate only once a day.

  1. Damage Repair

After having your skin flake off throughout the day, it only makes sense for you to treat yourself to something to rejuvenate your natural glow. Moisturizers and serums could only bring you so far when you don’t know what you’re looking for.

Since you’re drying up, you’ll want something to retain your natural oils despite the cold or the dry air indoors. Keeping that ‘skin barrier’ is what your top priority should be. While there are products that work best with your exfoliating formula, you still need to have skin care products for dry skin specifically.

Use these on areas more prone to dryness. Your lips and hands are both particularly sensitive to the cold, so it’s best to give them the attention they need. And it helps to moisturize under your eyes as well because having dry skin makes those dark circles obvious.

  1. Rest and Relaxation

Of course, you can have all the best products in the world while maintaining a strict skincare regimen that matches whatever season comes by, but do you give yourself a moment to rest? To allow yourself the time to simply exist?

Because as important as these products are, the best way to replenish your skin is through rest and relaxation. Take some time off to do something you enjoy. Go on a vacation and just let your hair down. Do everything you possibly can to de-stress because your mood can easily affect your appearance and vice-versa.

But if you can’t afford to have any of those yet, having a good night’s sleep is the best way to take care of yourself. The complete eight hours would be ideal, but if you’re not used to that, you can settle for six hours. However, that doesn’t mean you should stay up deep into the night and wake up late. 

It is a widely held belief that going to bed well past midnight and rising later is detrimental to your health. So, rather than run the risk of suffering negative health consequences, make sure you go to bed early for that much-needed shut-eye.

As the year comes to an end, the cold’s starting to set in. These are the times when your skin is at its driest and most vulnerable. Since having dry skin is never a fun experience for anyone, this is where your skin care routine can have its time to shine just as much as your skin will be glowing right after!
